Did you know that NMSU is home to the oldest Honors College in the state of New Mexico? Our Conroy Honors College is here to support all students in their academic endeavors and to provide enriching activities for Honors Students both in and out of the classroom (not harder and faster work like they may expect). As your student is deciding on NMSU for their college career, we encourage you to share this information with them about what the University Honors Program at NMSU could do for them. All high academic ability students are automatically Crimson Scholars and can apply for/join additional opportunities.

Some of the benefits of being a Crimson Scholar at NMSU:

  • Priority class registration
  • Eligible to enroll in Honors classes
  • Able to live in the Honors Living Learning Community on campus
  • Joining the Honors First Year Seminar to jumpstart the first semester

Along with the option to apply for our two competitive scholarship programs:

  • Conroy Honors Scholar (open to in-state and out-of-state future students)
  • PA Leader Scholar (open to New Mexico residents)

Please join your student in taking a look at our Honors website (https://honors.nmsu.edu/) and the attached flier to learn more about all of our Honors College services and those amazing scholarships! While you can join the Honors College at any time, the priority deadline for both scholar programs is December 1st (which means students have to apply to NMSU, be admitted, and complete scholarship paperwork before December 1st for the following school year).

If your student has any questions, they can reach out to Honors College staff at honors@nmsu.edu or 575-646-2005.
